OpSmile in Guadalajara with XanGo Goodness

In June, XanGo President Kent Wood wrote from Guadalajara to share his experience on the first of two Operation Smile missions this year. He witnessed the real extent of global XanGo Goodness.

In the recent follow-up mission, which began two weeks ago and concluded last Friday, more than one hundred additional children in Guadalajara received life-changing cleft lip and cleft palate surgery.

XanGo Director of Americas Erik Patterson and our VP of Public Relations Bob Freeze toured the clinic on September 30, experiencing the palpable feeling of gratitude from the families of the children receiving surgery. Many families expressed their gratitude to XanGo for making their children’s surgery possible.

Bob related one experience that impressed upon him the profound impact that XanGo Goodness is having:

“A XanGo distributor who lives to the south of Mexico City (a dentist by profession) brought a 10-month-old boy and a 15-year-old girl to the clinic here in Guadalajara, traveling 7 hours by car. Today, Erik and I watched the entire procedure that transformed the double cleft lip of the baby boy into the crowning feature of a beautiful smiling child.

“The distributor told us how this little boy was abandoned by his mother at birth because of his deformity, and his grandmother has taken care of him since.

“Erik and I watched in amazement as this little boy became whole. I hope everyone can understand exactly what the continuing commitment of our founders and distributors did today for a small boy whom they may never meet, but whose life they have changed. It was one of the coolest things I have ever seen and another proud moment as a XanGo employee. I got to carry this little boy to surgery, and never left his side. When we returned him to his grandmother, tears filled her eyes.”

While assisting in the mission, Erik had the opportunity to tell the XanGo story in his flawless Spanish on Televisa, a major TV station in Mexico.

Stay involved in XanGo Goodness.
