The reigning champs and masters of the MLS universe, Real Salt Lake, stopped by the home of their jersey-front sponsors (that’s us) today to show off the figurative championship crown they’re currently wearing and to continue the offseason celebrations.
RSL defender Tony Beltran and midfielder Rafael Cox brought their new sparkling symbol of glory, the Anschutz trophy, along with them so that we could all bask in its glow together.
The lobby of XanGo HQ filled with Real Salt Lake fans—who happen to be employed by XanGo—and none were more excited than XanGo Founder Gordon Morton to have the champions in their midst. Obviously proud of the team’s new status, Gordon thanked them for their great partnership and congratulated them on “making it big.”
Fans from all over the world joined with XanGo to congratulate Real Salt Lake on their amazing win, including Distributors from Portugal, Belgium, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Japan and Mexico.
After all, that was the whole point of the get-together—to thank and congratulate Real Salt Lake one more time, face to face, in our home. And as a token of our appreciation, Aaron Garrity produced a surprise gift for the team and—accompanied by Craig Hale, Bryan Davis, Gordon Morton and Kent Wood—presented it to Real Salt Lake.
Real Salt Lake GM Garth Lagerway and VP of Business Operations John Kimball were here to accept the gift and to graciously deflect all praise to the players. Garth also took questions from the fans, commenting that he is in negotiations with some talent from the USL, while Coach Kreis is down in Argentina on the scouting trail again.
After the brief exchange (with only minor interruptions from Leo the Lion) and the rounds and rounds of applause, Tony and Rafa signed autographs while fans swarmed the trophy. Thanks to Real Salt Lake for bringing their fine piece of hardware into our front room for the day! It was a good moment, and we look forward to similar moments in the future.
